Style Tips on How to Wear Floral Pants!

You all already know my love for florals from my previous post 20 Ways to Wear Floral for the Spring-Summer Season. Growing up in India, you naturally fall in love with all the colorful and vibrant prints in clothing, specially the floral print. So you can understand my obsession with it and the reason why I am sharing with you today my style tips on how to wear floral pants!

Style Tips on How to Wear Floral Pants

There are so many options with floral prints. You can wear an understated or pixellated print or you can wear a print with big and bold flowers. And just to overwhelm you, there are so many colors and fits available too! Regardless of what print and fit you choose for your pants, I go by these simple rules which always help me create a modern and fun look:

  1. Work it with a blazer
  2. Florals are for office-wear too! Add a basic black blazer and a chic pair of black heels and you are set to turn heads around in office!

Embroidered Pocket A Line Skirt with Boho Patchwork Crochet Swing Cardigan makes for a vibrant and colorful outfit.

  3. Accessorize it
  4. To create a chic look for the office, add some simple pieces of jewelry to create a minimal look like I have it here. You can also go bold with a statement necklace. I think it would work really well for an evening look. My style is mostly minimal, but I am pretty sure a statement piece of jewelry will be a great option. See how my blogger friend Supritha styled the floral pants with denim shirt and statement necklace.

  5. Toughen it up for a casual look
  6. To create a casual look wear the pants with a tee or an oversized sweater. To add a little edge to the outfit, you can wear it with a casual denim or leather jacket. I really like one of the looks created by Jalisa from Style Contour too.

  7. Right Shoes
  8. The shoes can change the whole look of an outfit. Wear it with stilettos or sandals to give it a formal or evening look. Wear it with sneakers and you have a relaxed and casual look.

  9. Color co-ordinate
  10. Wear a neutral top or a complimentary colored top to highlight the print. Choose from a color from within the print to enhance it. For example, the white top highlights the flowers in my printed trousers whereas the black top enhances its borders.

  11. Keep it simple
  12. Well, if nothing else works, just keep it simple and easy with a neutral top or a single solid-colored top to highlight the print. Add a little flair to it by wearing a flowy or layered or a sheer top. Keep the accessories simple.

  • My current wishlist is a Europe tour!
  • Currently in the playlist – One Dance by Drake, Cheap Thrills by Sia, Can’t Stop the Feeling by JT and We Don’t Talk Anymore by Charlie Puth and Selena!
  • I am a big movie buff. In fact, if I did not see a movie on its first weekend, I would not see it. And trust me I never missed the first weekend. But now spending 2-3 hrs for a movie is something that I cannot afford. Though I still don’t miss the sci-fi, superhero movies or a blockbuster.
  • I have never used Netflix or any other streaming service. I love my live TV shows with ads (I am weird…).
  • As much as I like the movies, I will not be the one watching “Conjuring” with you. I just can’t take horror. Call me chicken or anything.
  • If you find me running, I am running for help! Don’t get me wrong, I love Usain Bolt, but I just don’t enjoy running. I would rather play Tennis or Badminton.
  • I dislike any gym equipments. You will never see me on a treadmill or elliptical. I prefer floor exercises and weights.

  • My comfort food is Dosa – an Indian rice and lentil crepe.
  • Embarassing confession – I sleep in every party I go to. Don’t get me wrong, I think I am fun at the parties. But my energy just drains out at the end of the day and if the party runs late night, I just fall asleep. I mean I literally can sleep anywhere.
  • Embarassing Confession 2 – One of my favorite and addictive pass time is to browse the catalogue of all the clothing stores. I probably know what you are wearing by looking at the outfit.
  • Spontaneity breeds serendepity. I truly believe and follow that. Everyday is a different day – an ice cream day, a movie day, a dinner day, a lunch day, a hike day, a drive day. I make every day my day, but yes at times it clashes with Vinay’s plans which he is not so happy about.
  • I hate planning. But it does not mean that I do not get things done on time, it is just that I don’t want to define any order and I think it makes me very flexible. If you need me now or want to party now, I am always there!

4th of July Weekend in Whitefish

Hope all my US readers had a great July 4th weekend! We made a trip to Glacier National Park for the long weekend. But like most of our trips, this one too had little prior planning. Needless to say that we were unable to find accommodation near the park. So instead we booked a rental property through Airbnb in Whitefish which was at around an hour’s distance from the park. We were lucky to find it even this far from the park. But spending 4th of July weekend in Whitefish was actually perfect as it is listed as No. 9 for the America’s Best Towns for July 4th and our rental home was amazing as well.

Whitefish is a very lovely town with some quaint stores and cute boutiques. There were lot of nice eateries too, out of which we tried – “Jersey Boy’s Pizzeria”, “Mama Blancas Cocina Latina” and “Loula’s Café”. But I wish we could have spent more time in Whitefish, as most of our time was spent in Glaciers National Park which was beyond amazing. I will try to write a post on it soon. But back to the 4th of July weekend in Whitefish, and it just could not be complete without the awesome fireworks at Whitefish Lake’s City Beach. It was amazing to see the fireworks with the cool breeze, sand in my feet and reflection of fireworks on water. The fireworks actually started at 10:30 PM, and you could still see some light at the horizon. Something which you realize being in the northernmost part of USA. 😀

Driving in and near Whitefish you will see so many stores with Huckleberry jams, pies and all the other yummy stuff. So I knew I had to try a bakery, which is when we thought of Loula’s Café, as it was a bakery cum brunch place. So the next morning after the fireworks, we headed out straight to Loula’s Cafe for our breakfast. I had the slice of the amazing huckleberry-cherry pie and Eggs Benedict. It totally lived up to its expectations.

Love this denim overall dress from ASOS. It has that perfect denim blue color with the midi length which makes it unique as well. I wore a sports tank from Fabletics with my overall.

Isn’t it a fun combination to pair a tank top with your overalls? The tank top was perfect for the summer heat. It is actually my first purchase from Fabletics. I am in love with their sports apparel. They are so much fun and have a great pricing too. I would definitely recommend it. I mean how cute is this back!

Overall, we spent a great 4th of July weekend in Whitefish!

You are your own Rainbow

You are your own rainbow… and you… only you…
can choose the colors that bring peace and happiness into your life.
– Patricia Love

You are your own rainbow. Embroidered Pocket A Line Skirt with Boho Patchwork Crochet Swing Cardigan makes for a vibrant and colorful outfit.

Lately I was missing in action from social media and blogging for some time. Somehow, I could not collect my thoughts. Even when I had the ideas, I was not able to find the words for it. That is when I knew I needed to spend some “me” time doing introspection. Also, wanted to give more time to family and work. I think at times we all hit the wall and do not know how to progress further. In addition, somehow I had lot of negativity in me about what I am trying to achieve and where I am heading with fanciersworld. Even though I still do not have any directions about the blogging journey, I was able put my rainbow colored glasses on and look at things with a fresh new perspective. Hopefully it comes across to you as well.

It was as if the weather was mirroring my personal state of mind, dark cloudy days without any sun. I kept looking up in the sky hoping for a sign of sun and a rainbow. But no luck. That is when I decided, this is it – you are your own rainbow. So on came this outfit which probably has all the colors of the rainbow. 😀

I am always so attracted towards corduroy skirt, and this one from Boohoo was so fun with the embroidery and button front. Wore it with the patchwork crochet fringed vest to add a little boho touch to the outfit. Another of my favorite from the outfit are the below ankle boots from Sam Edelman. Love the color of the suede and the chunky block heels. These are so comfy that I can wear them all day. Another thing I like about this outfit is that all the individual pieces are versatile and have new styling potential.

Hope you enjoyed reading the post. And do not forget you are a rainbow of possibilities and only you have the choice to paint colors in your life!

A Walk in Downtown Steamboat Springs

Local weekend getaways are my favorite to unplug and rejuvenate. Steamboat Springs has been on our radar for quite some time now, as Downtown Steamboat Springs is among nation’s best small-town downtowns (even if one ignores the lure of hot springs). So when we got a good deal on the hotel, we did not even think twice, even if it meant leaving the sunny weekend in Denver over cloudy and rainy weekend in Steamboat Springs. The low season or the so called ‘mud season’ allowed us to explore the town at our own pace with less rush and the main street shops still open.

A walk in the downtown Steamboat Springs in relaxed leggings and V-neck top. Wearing a skinny scarf instead of a necklace to give a chic neck coverage.

We started the day with the brunch at Winona’s. The place surely lived upto its expectations with yummy muffins and breakfast treats. Then it was time for a little walk. And low season meant I could take uninterrupted pictures. 😀

Besides trying the local restaurants, I like to visit the local shops and boutiques when I am in a town. Found this cute display with rainboots being used as a flower vase. The outfits were just as cute as the display.

A beautiful window display found while walking in the Downtown Steamboat Springs. How cute are those rainboots being used as a flower vase. The clothes are even cuter.

A walk in the downtown Steamboat Springs in relaxed leggings and V-neck top. Wearing a skinny scarf instead of a necklace to give a chic neck coverage.

For a walk in downtown I prefer clothes which are easy and I can live in them all day. So I opted for a pair of leggings and a not so basic silk top in grey. Loved this top as it was really flattering on my body due to the heavy fall of the material and a deep v-neck.

TIP: A v-neck has a minimizing effect on the bust for full-figured women.

To add a chic touch to the outfit, I wrapped a silky skinny scarf around my bare neck, instead of opting for a necklace.

Vegan Dark Chocolate Avocado Mousse

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

Happy Cinco de Mayo everyone! Being comparatively closer to Mexico, Colorado has lot of Mexican influence on its food culture and celebrations. It definitely has influence at home as everybody loves Mexican food. So for the occasion I had to make something out of avocados, as Mexican food to me is incomplete without them. I was planning to make Guacamole, but then I thought about trying something new like maybe a Chocamole! That is when I came up with this smooth, velvety and oh-so chocolaty vegan dark choocolate avocado mousse recipe.

This was such a genius idea as now I have a dessert which gets the good fat from the avocados, richness from the dark cocoa powder and sweetness from fiber-rich dates. Now I don’t have to feel guilty about eating a mousse, as it is diabetic-friendly and paleo-friendly recipe. All because I had a box of dates from Costco lying in my refrigerator! This recipe is also good for people who are not avocado lovers ( avocado beginners as I like to call them 😉 ), as you will not recognize this power house behind the dark chocolate flavor!.

This vegan dark choocolate avocado mousse recipe is a 3-step and 3 ingredient recipe which gives a smooth guilt-free chocolate dessert.

Steps for making the Vegan Dark Chocolate Avocado Mousse

  1. Prepare the ingredients
  2. Well there is not much to do here except to scoop out your avocados! Isn’t it easy and convenient. But yes your avocados need to be perfectly ripe for this recipe. You don’t want it to be under-ripe or overripe, as it changes the taste of the mousse.

If you don’t have a high power blender or food processor, you might want to soak the dates in warm water for around an hour to soften them. I soaked mine for around 15 minutes and they were soft enough to be blended easily.

Ingredients for making the vegan dark choocolate avocado mousse.

  3. Blend the ingredients
  4. This step is as easy as throwing all the ingredients in a blender or food processor bowl and pushing a button Depending on your machine it can take around 5 minutes to get a smooth velvety mixture.

As a first step I put the scooped avocado, dates and cocoa powder in the bowl and blend them together coarsely. Then I let my food processor blend it further by adding little portions of water through the feeding tube. Do not add too much water as it might make the mousse runny and loose the consistency. Blend it well to get a smooth consistent mixture.

I mostly like making mildly sweet desserts, but if you prefer a sweeter version then simply add more dates or 1-2 tablespoon of sugar or honey, according to your taste. You can also try using coconut milk instead of water. I am sure it will be healthier and richer recipe with coconut milk, but I just did not have it around while I tried the recipe. Also, for my cocoa powder I like to use gourmet Dutch processed cocoa powder which lends the darkness to the chocolate flavor and color. You can use any cocoa powder for this recipe though.

Pureed avocado mixture for the vegan dark choocolate avocado mousse.

  5. Serve it!
  6. Transfer the mousse into small serving bowls. Now you can have it right away, but for the best taste I like to chill it in the refrigerator for atleast an hour. You can serve it with chocolate shavings or whipped cream if you like, but then it is no longer vegan. Although you might use some dairy-free chocolate for topping. There is no such thing as too much chocolate 😉

So how did you like this idea of chocolate avocado mousse? Do you have any other interesting avocado recipe I can try?

Vegan Dark Chocolate Avocado Mousse

This vegan dark chocolate mousse is a 3-step and 3-ingredient recipe which gives a smooth guilt-free chocolate dessert. Sweetened by dates, it is a diabetic-friendly and paleo-friendly recipe.

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Total Time: 5 minutes

Yield: Serves 3-4

Ingredients

  • 1 ripe medium avocado
  • 2/3 cup pitted dates (around 12-15 pieces)
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1-2 tablespoons sugar/honey (optional)

Instructions

  1. Soak the dates in warm water and set them aside for around an hour to soften them. Scoop out the avocado.
  2. Add the avocado, dates and cocoa powder into a blender or food/processor bowl. Blend all the ingredients together to a smooth mixture, by adding small amount of water at a time. Add only little amount of water at a time to ensure the right consistency. Add sugar/honey to the blender if you need a sweeter taste.
  3. Chill it before serving.

Notes

1. This dessert is mildly sweet. If you need a sweeter dessert, then add some extra sugar or honey to the recipe, according to taste.

Spring breeze calling for a change

The spring breeze sings a lullaby to my heart
awakening the melody of my soul
– C J Reynolds

South western tribal print poncho brings the vibrancy of the spring and fluidity of the spring breeze. Pair it with distressed denim and high heels for a city chic outfit.

One of the things that I love about the spring is it’s cool gentle breeze. The spring breeze brings along with it the smell of the sweet flowers, the smell of the earth drenched with fresh rain, swaying of trees and rustling of leaves. It reminds us of the fluidity of our lives and to keep moving forward. It is as if mother nature is calling you for a change. So with the cool breeze tousling my hair I start introspecting. What do I want to change about myself? Here is what I came up with:

Be present. Lately I have been so busy in getting things done that I am missing out on the little moments of joy and relaxation. I need go with the flow and not feel pressurized into doing things. I want to be able to enjoy watching Akira play and Vinay smiling back at me without having the thought of what is left to be done for the day. I need to prioritize.

Pamper myself. Don’t we all need it? It is so important to take out time for yourself. Maybe read the book you saw the review for, the movie that your friends are talking about, dine at the restaurant you have been wanting to eat forever, enjoy a spa day that your body has been asking for or maybe just the sleep you have to catch up on. We deserve it! It helps us rejuvenate and

Stop Procrastination. Yes I am guilty of that. Hopefully I am able to drive the things my way instead of the tasks driving my day.

Exercise more. This is an area where I have been lagging for quite some time now. I just need to break out of my shell of laziness and set some fitness goals. Trust me I am very body positive, but I need to be in a state where I am not the last… well one of the last ones to complete a 14er (more on how I completed my first 14er )!
Did you know that all the cells in your body get replaced in 7-10 years? So maybe it is possible to reverse the aging by creating more happy cells in my body with a good workout.

Eat healthier. I do have good eating habits and we cook mostly at home. But it is those in-between snacks that I need to keep in control. I want to follow some portion control, add more fiber and reduce the carbs in my diet. Also, I would like Akira to pick good eating habits as well.

These are the changes that I want to make within myself. But then there are other important changes that a woman needs to address, like a wardrobe change for the spring season 😉

For today’s outfit I am wearing this southwest print poncho. Ponchos are such an easy and comfy way to stay warm with the cool spring breeze. They are also fun and playful, just like the spring breeze. I was immediately attracted to the unique southwestern print and colors. I have paired it with a distressed denim and strappy ankle sandals to give the outfit a city chic look.
So what are the changes that you are looking forward to this spring?

Kissing Winter Good Bye with Faux Fur Coat

Hello friends! I have been away for a while now from the social media and my dear “Fancier’s World”. It was a much needed break as we went back to India after almost 6 years and it was Akira’s first trip back home. But I did miss writing and catching up with you all. Hope you missed me too! I will be talking more about my India trip pretty soon. For this post I am writing about my fur coat outfit.

Zara Faux Fur Coat with Jersey Flare Skirt in Camel. Wear it in winter with leggings or transition it with tall boots to spring.

Yes! A fur coat in spring. It was not even a day when we landed back in Denver, when a snowfall welcomed us in the spring. That is actually not uncommon for Colorado and April is actually one of the wettest months. So I cannot be yet packing up my winter clothes. But there sure seems to be signs of spring with the greener grass, the perennials blooming, the leaves about to shoot out and most importantly temperatures rising! Hopefully we do not get too big storms and I can kiss the winter good bye with this fur coat. 🙂

Zara Faux Fur Coat with Jersey Flare Skirt in Camel. Wear it in winter with leggings or transition it with tall boots to spring.
Zara Faux Fur Coat with Jersey Flare Skirt in Camel. Wear it in winter with leggings or transition it with tall boots to spring.

I am usually very skeptical about wearing complete faux fur coats, as they look bulky and can look cheap if the material is not right or if not styled properly. But I love this coat from Zara as it is nice and soft to touch and has a nice color combination. Also I like the length of this coat which is more of a jacket, so I can pair it easily with skirts and pants.

TIP: When wearing a bulky coat/jacket, highlight it by keeping the rest of the outfit simple in terms of color, print or volume.

When you wear a fur coat, it overpowers all the other pieces. So instead of fighting with it I tried to highlight it with matching camel or tan colors. Since the coat adds bulk to my outfit, I decided to wear lycra and jersey knit for rest of my outfit to keep it simple. I love the fabric that can stretch and is body hugging, as it looks flattering for most of the body types. The basic white sweater and jersey flounce skirt do exactly that for me.

TIP: Use materials like jersey knit or lycra to reduce the volume of the dress and get a slimming effect.

And yes this cute little pom pom hat to complete this outfit.

So what do you think about wearing a faux fur coat?

Cherry Red Corduroy Mini Skirt with Grey

Ok… I have a confession to make. I am a “skirt hoarder”. I have it in all possible colors, shapes, and designs (ummm… maybe sizes too :D). And what is not to love about this cherry red corduroy mini skirt! It has deep gorgeous red color in low maintenance fabric corduroy with a relaxed a-line silhouette in a mini length, which you can wear all throughout the fall-winter season! The pairings with this skirt are endless and it has been my favorite since I bought it a couple of years back from Loft.

Loft Cherry Red Corduroy Mini Skirt worn with Grey Zara Sweater Top. Wear with over the knee boots to elongate your legs.

Well why this red skirt now? One it is timeless, second it is Valentine’s month. With Akira around, we cannot do dinner dates as we have not yet found a good baby sitter. That means it had to be a lunch date on a weekday with Akira in daycare. So I had to decide on something which had the wow factor but not too dressy. I think it turned out perfect for our lunch at Season’s 52.

For my outfits, I like playing with solid colors but keeping it simple and clean. So to highlight the red I chose this marled Grey sweater from Zara. The fitted high neck top with the relaxed fit of the skirt provides a slimming effect as well 😉

To add to the contrast I wore a black coat and black suede over the knee boots. I just love these boots ever since they made an appearance on the blog.
I like how they make my legs look longer and go so perfectly well with the cherry red corduroy mini skirt.

So what did you think of this combination? How did you wear your Valentine’s Day outfit?

Add Color Pop to Red for your Valentine’s Day Outfit

It is difficult not to get into the red mood with the Valentine’s Day around. But I wanted to have a red outfit which would look not too dressy, so that I can wear it besides the Valentine’s Day. I got my perfect answer in this beautiful red coat from Zara with its sleek lines and gorgeous red color. To make it more interesting I just had to add color pop to red for the outfit, so I paired it with my lemon yellow skirt. Think the combination really worked out well!

I wore a red coat and yellow skirt for the outfit. But you can very well mix it up and wear a yellow top and red skirt, or how about pink & red or orange & red. What combination can you think to add color pop to red?

Did you notice those cute little aspen leaf earrings? I think I bought it from the Mt Evans gift store. Always fun to add some local touch to your outfit.

The skirt, boots and sunglasses are old ones which I have owned for quite some time. Feels so good when you can pair up those old pieces to get a fresh new outfit. Can you spot Vinay taking picture in my sunglasses? 😀
