How to wear a bodycon dress without a flat stomach

With party season soon approaching, it is time to bring out all the sparkly, fun and form-fitting outfits. I love bodycon or body conscious dress and how it accentuates all your curves and gives you the instant glam feel. But I really did not have the confidence to pull it off as I do not have a flat tummy and I also have love handles. (A kid and love for food does not help it either 😀 ). But slowly over the time I have learnt to embrace my body and even wear a bodycon dress without a flat stomach using some of the following tips.

Style tips on how to wear a bodycon dress without a flat stomach. Wear a thicker and darker fabric for slimming effect. Wear it with an oversized chunky knit cardigan and over the knee boots for a fall look.

Tips to wear a bodycon dress without a flat stomach

Though I wrote these tips to wear a bodycon dress without a flat stomach, these tips are useful for any person who is intimidated to wear a bodycon dress.

  1. Darker shades

This is the thumb rule for any outfit, darker shades make you look slimmer. So most of the times I go for black for my form-fitting outfits. With bodycon dresses black makes you look taller and slimmer. So if in doubt try a darker color like black or purple.

  2. Thicker or structured fabric

The thicker fabric actually helps in giving an overall slimmer look and not show all the bulges. I actually love Free People bodycon dresses as they are so unique and are made of great quality fabric.

  4. Layering

If you are not too comfortable showing off all the curves, then opt for a simple layer like a light knit or jacket. I decided to wear this oversized chunky knit cardigan with my look as it is not only cozy but it creates an effortless sporty chic look.

  5. Accessories

Bodycon dresses are made to stand out so I would skimp out on the accessories and keep it neutral to complement the dress. I am just wearing my current favorite JORD Wood Watch (as you have seen here) and simple earrings for the look.

  6. Pattern

Use the pattern to your advantage by selecting a pattern like the Aztec embroidery on my dress. It takes some attention away from the bulge. Avoid wearing thick stripes as they tend to make you look wider.

  8. Cinched waist

Try wearing dresses which have empire neckline or have cinched waist to accentuate your waist and look slimmer. You can even get help through a waist cincher to reduce the stomach and enhance your waist.

  9. Shapewear

Shapewear can help you achieve the seamless and smooth foundation for the bodycon dresses. Even Tim Gunn of Project Runway fame recommends that it is a must to hide the unwanted bulges even for men. But I am not wearing one for this outfit as I am still not too comfortable in it. I would love to hear if you have any suggestions for me.

  11. Shoes

Bodycon dresses are as if meant to go with the sky high heels to create that glamorous and confident look. But walking in them is no fun if you are too conscious about the look. Try wearing it with a sexy pair of over the knee boots. They work really well specially for the cooler fall days. Or maybe even try flats for a change.

  13. Smile and pose

Smile is your best accessory. Always wear a smile on the face to take drive the awkwardness away. And pose showing off your best features like your carved arms or legs you have been working on. As I have bigger chest and wider hips I try not to strike a side pose when wearing a form fitting outfit. But here is just one to show how the bodycon dress looks on me. Yes, holding my breath was involved 😀

Do you have any bodycon favorites or tips for me?

Watches have a special place in my heart. The first thing that I bought from my very first salary was a Swiss watch for my mom (but in reality it is part of my closet now :D). So when JORD Wood Watches approached me to do a review on their FRANKIE 35 series Dark Sandalwood & Mint Watch, I was more than excited. It is the perfect minimalist luxury watch that I have been looking for. I mean these watches are made of real wood, how cool is that! The unique craftsmanship powered with Swiss movement creates the perfect and statement time piece.

Recently I came across this article on minimalism by Joshua & Rayon and found it very thought-provoking. What are your thoughts on minimalism, not just from a fashion point of view?

Minimalism is a tool to rid yourself of life’s excess in favor of focusing on what’s important—so you can find happiness, fulfillment, and freedom.

As a fashion blogger and lover I tend to go overboard sometimes with my shopping. At times like these I need to re-focus myself and question, do I really need this? So inspired by the minimalism and this minimalist luxury watch, I have created 2 looks for this post – all black and all white. To me the simplest yet powerful colors for an outfit are black and white. I feel like they represent the minimalism perfectly.

All Black Look with Jord Luxury Watch

For my all black look I am wearing a black cold-shoulder top with my pocket skirt. It kind of gives an illusion of a cold shoulder dress. I paired it with my favorite pair of Zara booties and Jord watch.

All White Look with Jord Luxury Watch

White is such a cool and calming color. For the all white look I paired this high-neck dress with white sneakers and of course my current favorite JORD watch.

Why striped sweater is a fall essential?

Striped sweater is a fall essential just how a striped tee is a summer wardrobe staple. There are myriad ways to style them and it can be dressed up or down. This khaki striped loose sweater has been my go-to sweater for this fall. The colors are perfect for fall and it is just so comfy. So for today’s post I am sharing 4 ways to style a striped sweater for fall.

Striped sweater is a fall essential just like a striped tee is for summer. Wear it with a short skirt and tall boots to create a fun or semi-formal look.

Why striped sweater is a fall essential?

We talked about the versatility of stripes. Now all you have to do is pick up the right stripes for you. In general vertical stripes create length, whereas horizontal stripes create width. For my curvy body type I can go mostly with any stripes. The one that caught my eye was this sweater with varying width of stripes. I have been wearing it in all ways possible. So here is my take on it:

Wear it like a tee

While the weather is still mild, tuck the sweater in your favorite mini skirt and put on those tall boots!

Striped sweater is a fall essential just like a striped tee is for summer. You can wear it with formals and casuals to dress it up or down. Wear it like a tee or layer it.

Wear it with the formals

Dress up the look by wearing it with a formal skirt and booties or heels!

Striped sweater is a fall essential just like a striped tee is for summer. Wear it with a midi skirt and booties to create a formal office look.

Layer it

For a cold day, layer it with a polo or mock neck top ( if the sweater does not have a mock neck already 😉 ) or wear it with a coat or jacket.

Striped sweater is a fall essential just like a striped tee is for summer. For a cold day, layer it with a mock neck top or coat. Wear it with trousers to create a formal office look.

Keep it casual

The best part of stripes is that it works so well for an everyday look. Wear it with your favorite pair of jeans or leggings to create a casual look.

Striped sweater is a fall essential just like a striped tee is for summer. Wear it with your favorite pair of jeans or leggings to create a casual look.

So what is your fall essential?

Cure Wanderlust with CaseApp – Review + Giveaway

We just came back from a fall trip last weekend and I was so ready to relax, work and settle down. But as the week went by, the itch to travel has creeped in again. I guess once the travel bug hits you, you don’t go back. But it might not always be possible to travel. So instead I cured my wanderlust with CaseApp custom laptop skin and custom iPhone case!

My restless, roaming spirit would not allow me to remain at home very long.

Cure wanderlust with CaseApp

Whether you are looking for a new adventure or are simply bored with your routine, you can cure the wanderlust by just staying at home (at least for time being 😀 ). Here are some the things I recommend:

  1. Read Travel Blogs or Books
  2. I love just reading travel blogs, magazines, and books. You might just want to pack and leave for another trip with all the serious inspiration that you find out there. But take this is as an inspiration maybe and start adding to your travel bucket list.

  3. Relive the memories
  4. Go through your travel archives. Read your old travel diaries, travel blogs, or go through your stamp collection from national park passport. Look at the old pictures you had taken during the travel. This is what I did when Caseapp approached me to design a custom skin and case. That is when I found this beautiful Indian ocean picture that Vinay had captured on our trip to Maldives.

Cure wanderlust with CaseApp with custom laptop skin and custom iPhone case.

  5. Listen to travel playlist
  6. Do you have a travel playlist? We do a lot of road trips in Colorado and outside state, and these trips would not be the same without some music. Anything that inspires you or brings out the energy or fun.

  7. Break the routine
  8. Try something different to break out of a regular or boring routine. Like visit a new neighborhood, do a short hike, walk in the park or watch sunrise/sunset, or maybe do a movie night with travel inspiration.

If you think adventure is dangerous, try routine, it is lethal.
    – Paul Coelho

  9. Try new cuisine
  10. If you are a foodie like me, you would be Yelp-ing all the great food joints and restaurants on your trip. So maybe bring home some food culture by trying a new cuisine. You need not go outside to a restaurant, but maybe just try a new recipe that you have been fantasizing about.

  11. Plan for next trip
  12. I mean seriously this is what keeps me going – what are we doing on the weekend or my free evening or over the long weekend or holidays! It is just so much fun to plan a trip with family and friends.

Cure wanderlust with CaseApp with custom laptop skin and custom iPhone case.

  13. Work in a new setup
  14. Maybe change your work location at times and get inspired. I love to write my posts from library or a coffee shop at times. The change in environment is so refreshing!

And all of these I am able to do it at home on my computer or phone. That does not mean that you should stay put, but you just need to find your inspiration while you are at home. And that is how I cure wanderlust with CaseApp.

CaseApp review

No seriously! CaseApp is the coolest solution for the custom designed products. I was really amazed with the quality of the print and it looked so real. The laptop skin is not a flimsy thin cover as I thought it would be, but it was just the ideal layer of protection without adding any bulk . The bright turquoise water of Indian ocean and the surreal water villas were brought to life. My eyes literally keep grazing for the laptop. It just takes me to a happy place where we were for our honeymoon trip to Maldives. I just knew that this picture was the right choice for my custom design. I added a little bit of boho vibe (my ‘thing’ lately) to it with the message and the arrows. Totally live by the message!

Explore. Dream. Discover.
– Mark Twain

Why CaseApp?

  1. Custom designing
  2. Though Vinay is a mountain boy and we live in the beautiful state of Colorado, we both do long for warm sunny beach days. So I decided to design the custom laptop skin and iPhone case based on a beach theme. We did want something personal for our custom designs so I opted for the picture which we took on our favorite trips to Maldives.

  3. Cool ready-to-use designs and graphics
  4. You do not need to have a custom design or picture, CaseApp site itself has lot of really cool and creative ready to use designs as well. Their marble case and skin is really popular and awesome. So I decided to pick up a little unusual blue marble case for my iPhone. I made it custom by adding an image of the palm tree. Ahhh… takes me to a beach town or city right away and in a way reminds me of the beautiful clear blue sky of Colorado.

  5. Extra protection case
  6. For those who have slippery hands like min, they also provide the extra protection case! But be mindful the silicone lining is only black in color.

  7. Great pricing
  8. Most custom phone cases are $34 and laptop skin for $24-29.

How to order with CaseApp

Here is a step by step procedure for how I made the order:

  1. Select or create any custom image that you want to use. Keep in mind the dimensions of your laptop or phone. For my Macbook Pro 13, I used an image with 3:2 dimensions and more than 1200 px wide. For my iPhone I used a vector image that could scale up or down. If you use a low resolution image then the quality of the print might not be as good as you would expect.
  2. For the laptop skin I went directly to the “Skins” tab on their website. Then I uploaded the picture in their Design Studio to get the right skin design. The cost for the skin was $29.
  3. I selected the light blue marble design for my iPhone case for $34 by selecting the design through the tab “Designs” on their website. Then I uploaded my custom picture in their Design Studio and resized and moved it to get the right design.
  4. These products were sponsored for me by CaseApp, so I did not have to make any payment. The shipping fees is free for US residents, but you might have to account for shipping fees if you need it outside US or some other countries. Even with the shipping the prices are really reasonable for the quality of items you get. Also, CaseApp has allowed me to share a 20% off discount code FANCIERSWORLD20 for you to use.
  5. The package arrived 2 weeks after my order including the printing and shipment time. I was really happy to receive it before our anniversary. Was such a nice gift for us! 🙂
  6. Then it was as simple as peeling the skin from the package to the laptop and fitting the case! They both turned out to be awesome I think.

Transitional Layering for Fall with Colorblock Asymmetrical Dress

Crisp sun burnt leaves swirling in the autumn breeze. Well that is exactly the inspiration behind this transitional layering for fall with colorblock asymmetrical dress from SheIn. The colorblock in orange and taupe resembles the transitional colors of a leaf in fall. The breezy and flowy texture of the outfit is so perfect for summer but also transitions well into the fall as I show here in this post. Needless to say I had my eyes on it from before as you might have noticed in my previous wishlist.

I can smell autumn dancing in the breeze.

Day Look for Early Fall with Colorblock Asymmetrical Dress

Transitional layering for fall with colorblock asymmetrical dress from SheIn. Inspired by crisp sunburnt leaves swirling in the autumn breeze.

My first look is a day look celebrating the color and fluidity of this dress. I have paired it with neutral tone accessories to highlight the colorblocking. The halter neckline is very flattering and the outfit gets a good definition with a belt. I am totally in love with the fall and material of the fabric and the price is really unbeatable. I just could not help twirling and having fun in this outfit. 😀

I think we can get a lot more out of our summer dresses and need not pack them yet, specially if it is this pretty! So for the evening look I added a layering of a light sweater to the outfit, perfect for the cool fall evenings. Also, not shying away with the color contrast, I wore these gorgeous white booties with the outfit. White boots were marked as one of the popular trends during the NYFW this year and I am totally stoked about it. What do you think about this combination?

Life is too short to not have fun! I seriously live by this motto and my clothing also reflects that. But it is nice to get in touch with our feminine side too. So in today’s post I am going to talk about how to wear feminine and fun outfit. Thanks to Rosegal I was able to create the following 2 looks with this bohemian maxi skirt and gingham doll dress.

How to wear a feminine and fun outfit! Wearing Bohemian High-Waist Floral Print Women's Convertible Skirt from Rosegal.

How to wear feminine and fun outfit

  1. Feminine and flirty silhouette – Maxi full skirts are so fun to twirl around in. The baby doll dresses are also fun and flirty!
  2. Fun pattern – I love wearing vibrant colors and prints. Try a fun pattern like gingham which has been quite popular this year. Or maybe a bohemian print
  3. Trendy jewelry – Try some fun or trendy jewelry. This season has been all about tassels. So maybe try some tassel earrings.
  4. How to wear a feminine and fun outfit! Wear fun and trendy tassels earrings like this ASOS

  5. Fun bag – The accessories can really change the outfit. Maybe break out of the norm from your classy bags and try a fun or quirky bag.
  6. How to wear a feminine and fun outfit! Carry a fun and quirky bag like this White Zipper Lips Shaped PU chain Bag from SheIn

  9. Makeup – Have fun with your look. Though I do not wear much of makeup and I am really a newbie at it, one thing which I love is the lip color. Wear a vibrant color and it instantly changes your look.

Feminine and Fun Outfit Look 1 – Bohemian Maxi Full Skirt

For my first look I selected this beautiful bohemian print maxi skirt. I can even wear it in fall with boots. For this look I wore it with a halter top and dress sandals to create an evening look. I also love this halter top and actually wore it with the back side on the front. 😉

Feminine and Fun Outfit Look 2 – Gingham Doll Dress

For the second look I am wearing this pretty Gingham dress in fun silhouette. This is my favorite look and can also be worn with the boots for the fall season. I wore it to the Taste of Colorado event and everyone simply loved it.

  1. The quality of clothing is really good for the pricing.
  2. They really have a great and unique collection of contemporary and vintage clothing.
  3. Even though the sizing is very different than US/UK sizes, they have a great size chart which is very accurate.

Get to know me

September is a happy busy month for me with Labor day weekend, my birthday, our marriage anniversary and summer to fall transition. So when lovely and sassy Lindsey Puls of “Have Clothes Will Travel” tagged me for “Get To Know Me – 4 things” tag, I thought it will be perfect for the occasion. I have been following Lindsey’s blog for her unique sense of style and travel adventures and was really excited when she tagged me. You can read her answers to the questions here.

Get to Know Me - Richa Kamal from Fancier's World. No makeup bare look with a velvet slip dress.

Here are my answers to the questions:

Four places I’ve lived

  • Korba – I grew up in the small town of Korba in the state of Chattisgarh, India. I have the fondest memories of this place, as all my childhood was spent here. I did my complete schooling here before moving out to college.
  • Indore – I completed my Engineering in Indore in the state of Madhya Pradesh, India. This place is a foodie’s paradise and a great city for students.
  • Chandigarh – Had the privilege of living in this capital of two Indian states and a union territory by itself. This is where I started my first job and met Vinay, so it holds a special place in my heart!
  • Denver – This is my first and the only city I have lived in since moving to the United States. Needless to say, I love the place and the gorgeous Rocky Mountains. This is where Akira was born. 🙂

Get to Know Me - Richa Kamal from Fancier's World. Family picture at Spruce Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park.

Four places I’ve visited

Get to Know Me - Richa Kamal from Fancier's World. After diving in Hilton Maldives Iru Fushi Resort & Spa.

  • Mumbai – I have traveled and visited a lot of places in India, but I mark Mumbai as my favorite, more so for the memories I have from the place. I think this is where I made most our family trips with my father, so it will always be a special place.
  • Maldives – This little island of heaven is where we spent our honeymoon. It was like a dream staying there on the water villas.
  • Cancun – Cancun was one of my trips with my in-laws after marriage. The beautiful turquoise water, grand resorts and the Mayan ruins completely won me over. And I do not get to visit a wonder of the world that often!
  • Big Island, Hawaii – I was torn between my visits to the Caribbean and Hawaii, but I selected Hawaii as this was our first official family trip with Akira and my mom. Akira was only 4 months old at that time, but it was such an amazing experience for all of us. What is not to love – bountiful nature, unique and beautiful beaches & landscapes, the food & culture.

Get to Know Me - Richa Kamal from Fancier's World. Green Sand Beach in Big Island Hawaii.

Four TV shows I watch

  • Project Runway – I saw the first season of Project Runway when I was in India, and have been hooked on to this show ever since – kinda obvious one because of my love for fashion. But I think even those who are not into fashion will love this intense reality show. I really love the unique challenges and awesome talent that they get on the show.
  • Law & Order: Special Victim’s Unit – Before Akira and blogging happened, most of my free time would go into watching TV. And it is hard not to come across the back to back episodes of Law & Order: SVU. I really like watching all the crime shows and detective series, but I love this one the most, because it combines the courtroom drama with the detective action. Also, I like that it is not gory and ends on a positive note or message, with justice being served.
  • Suits – I am kind of fascinated by court room drama I guess or maybe more by intelligent and sophisticated shows. Suits is intelligent and entertaining with right amounts of corporate drama and laughs. I love the shows “White Collar” and “Leverage” too on the similar lines.
  • Big Bang Theory – Besides all the drama and action, I love watching comedy. There are a lot of classic ones, but the current favorite is Big Bang Theory. It has made geek and nerdy so much fun.

Four of my favorite foods

  • Dark Chocolate – I need to have a daily dose of my healthy dark chocolate. Always have it stocked.
  • Nuts – I am nuts for nuts. Be it almonds, walnuts, pistachios, cashews, pecans, hazelnuts etc. This is my power snack and I don’t miss it any day.
  • Dosa – Dosa or Indian Savory Rice & Lentil Crepes
  • Samosa – There is a reason why this delicious Indian street food is the favorite food for Bill Gates. Yes it is all carbs and yes it is fried, but nothing beats this comfort food!

Four things I like to drink

  • Water – Nothing like the elixir of life – H2O!
  • Milk – I love milk in any form – Plain milk, milk shakes, or cold coffee. Love anything with dairy!
  • Green Tea – I really don’t take any caffeinated drinks, green tea being an exception. Totally a tea person than a coffee person. Hopefully I am drinking all the health benefits of it!
  • Wine – I drink occasionally and prefer wines over any other drinks. Do not think it has any benefits but helps to set the mood for sure. 😉

Four Pet Peeves

  • I hate it when someone tells me that a woman is supposed to do this and not that. We have come a long way but still more to go for the gender equality.
  • I just cannot see wastage of any resource. If I cannot make the world a better place, I surely do not want to make it worse. It just irks me when I see people wasting water or just using loads of unnecessary paper towels.
  • I get mad while driving when a person cuts right in front of me and makes me brake.
  • Bad service turns me off like anything. If I do not get a good service, I simply stop using it.

Four wacky or odd things about me

  • I don’t have OCD but I like some order in my chaos. Like I want my dishwasher to be stacked certain way and the dishes to be arranged in a certain order. If there is a pattern on a dish, I want them to be stacked with the pattern in the same direction. I know…. 😀
  • I am an absent minded professor when it comes to remembering things. I might have placed the phone right in front of me, but I will be animatedly looking for it.
  • I think and sing aloud. So at times people have hard time catching up with my thoughts. My colleagues find it amusing when I sing aloud listening to a song while I am working at my desk 😀
  • I sported a bob cut till I was 25. I never even had my hair grow till the shoulder length before it.

What face are you wearing today?

I wake up every morning with my cup of green tea, read some news and catch up on my emails. The next thing I do is stare at my closet and think- “what should I be wearing today?”. The choice is not just dictated by the day’s weather – it’s about my mood, the role I have to play and the people I have to meet. Is it going to be office or is it an outing or is it the weekend getaway? Maybe the right question to ask is – “what face are you wearing today”? Our clothing reflects our mood and personality. Thanks to Romwe, I was able to wear so many faces today! 🙂

To me clothing is a form of self-expression – there are hints about who you are in what you wear.
– Marc Jacobs

We keep on switching between different roles everyday. I juggle between roles of a mother, a wife, a daughter, a sister, a friend, a corporate professional, and a blogger almost everyday. I am all of it and none of it. With so many roles to play in our lives, it is really difficult to be true to yourself.

It is what I was born for –
to look, to listen, to lose myself, inside this soft world –
to instruct myself over and over…
– Mary Oliver

I think it is very important to take time out for yourself and reflect upon the journey so far. Lately I have been drawn to yoga and meditation for the same reason. I find that realizing your true self is actually very liberating. When we are happy and spend time with our near ones, we show our true face. Rest of the times, we just keep switching between different masks. I do not think there is any issue with that. After all pretend and play is fun too!

Just be yourself. Let people see the real, imperfect, flawed, quirky, weird, beautiful, magical person that you are.

Personal style comes from within. It’s when the woman, her individuality and spirit, comes through. She uses clothes to express who she is and how she feels.
– Donna Karan

I truly believe in these words. And I think that we are the ones who can decide who we want to be each day or how our mood is. So for this post I decided to have some fun and add a little quirkiness to my day with this pretty off-shoulder top from Romwe.com. This is my first collaboration with Romwe and I am really excited about it. I had never shopped with them before, but was really surprised with their collection and amazing prices. The delivery was really fast and I was quite pleased with the quality of the top.

For those of you who have not heard about Romwe, it is an online store based in China that sells apparel, shoes, accessories and other vintage pieces as well. They also offer worldwide shipping which is a big plus. I would definitely recommend it to someone looking for fun, vintage or budget clothing. Seriously! I mean how cute is this top for only $12! Funny part is that you can actually ask me – what face are you wearing today? How many faces do you think I am wearing today? How many faces were you able to count on the top? The next question to ask yourself if you are not shopping from Romwe is, why am I not shopping from Romwe.com!

And I think the whole face mask thing and being secretive pose stuck with me. Here is another shot of it 😀

My Shopping Experience and Tips for SheIn.com

As a fashion lover and blogger I spend a lot of time online, shopping and browsing for new style trends. While researching and browsing I had come across the shein.com site a lot many times, but I was always wary of shopping there. The prices and collection seemed too good to be true! So I can understand your reluctance to shop from the site. How is the quality and fit going to be? Does the item get delivered and on time? I had lot of similar questions as well. So today I want to share my shopping experience and tips for shein.com and my current favorite items from the site.

My Shopping Experience and Tips for SheIn.com

I started my shopping from shein.com sometime last year, when I had ordered a couple of accessories. They seemed low risk as I did not have to worry about the fit. I was pleasantly surprised when the items arrived within 10 days. Yes, the items were not of the best quality but they were a great value deal because of the price. That made me a little braver and I ordered couple of clothing items. I have to be honest, these were really a hit or a miss. The clothing sizes on the site are Asian sizes and are much smaller than the regular US sizes. The quality and fit is also varied depending on the item. So based on my shopping experience, I have compiled some tips below:

Shopping Experience and Tips for SheIn.com

  1. Watch out for sizes

  2. The clothing sizes are ridiculously smaller than US or Indian sizes you are used to ordering. I had once ordered a dress which I could not even get into. (My friend was glad to take it though :D) So be sure to look out for the size details. It is different for each item and they do a good job at listing it, something which I learnt after shopping from the site. Even after noting the size, it may come out differently based on the fabric which I talk about in the next point.

  3. Read the item details

  4. Most of the items have little or no stretch or room for any alterations. Also, at times the dresses do not have a zipper or buttons, and it makes it difficult to fit in. If you have doubts I would stay clear from the fitted clothing and would order clothing in material which has some stretch like T-shirt dresses. But the prices are so cheap that it is worth trying even if you have doubts. Just do not forget to read the item details. I always look for the fabric details and it could say – “The fabric has some stretch”, “Fabric is very stretchy” and “Fabric has no stretch”.

  5. Be patient with Shipping

  6. SheIn takes 3-7 business days to process your order and then another 6-8 days to deliver it. So it does take around 2-3 weeks for the order to arrive, so you have to be patient. I have had some of the items arrive within 10 days. I think they were the ones that are marked “Ships in 24 hrs”. Also, another good thing about SheIn shipping is that they ship worldwide now. So if you are in US or India, you can order it too!

  7. Returns

  8. I have not yet returned any items from my shopping from the site. But if you have concerns with returns, I would recommend buying less expensive items first, to get an idea. Their site clearly states that the buyer has to pay for the return costs unless the item is damaged or defective. They cannot return/exchange swimsuits, accessories and lingerie. You have the option to return items to their nearest return address after contacting their support. Each item also talks about the return policy separately. e.g., “It is easy for US buyers to return to our New Jersey Fulfillment Center”. I can imagine that it might not be a viable option if you are returning the item outside the country.

  9. Read the reviews

  10. SheIn.com has some good reviews for lot of items and it also includes a picture gallery. I like to read the reviews and go through their style gallery, as it gives me some idea on the fit and the current favorite items to shop for. I have also ordered some items without any reviews, but had to pay close attention to the size and fabric details.

  11. Use the Bonus Points

  12. SheIn.com also has a reward system wherein you earn bonus points for every purchase, reivew or social media sharing. You can also get good bonus point on sharing your image to the style gallery if you are selected. 100 Bonus Points are equivalent to $1. So earn while you shop! I have actually redeemed these points for my purchases as well.

Though my shopping experience with SheIn has been a mixed baggage, I love it mostly because of the:

  • Wide variety of options. Seriously, it is addictive to browse through their catalog.
  • Affordable price.
  • Sometimes you can even find a complete replica of branded items at a dirt-cheap price. I have been eyeing this Shein top which is a complete copy of the FreePeople off-shoulder top which is priced at $98.
  • What you get is what you pay for! The quality of the items does get better if you increase your price range.

Based on all my experience I would definitely continue shopping from the site and would recommend it to others as well, provided you follow the tips above 😀

So here are some of the items from my SheIn wishlist to make shopping easier for you!

If you have been following us lately, Fancier’s World just completed its first blog anniversary. What could be me more chic yet affordable than Baby’s Breath! No it is not just a filler flower for wedding decorations. Personally I am in love with Baby’s Breath as it matches my minimalist style. So on came the project for a DIY Baby’s Breath Flower Crown.

  • 1-2 bunches of Baby’s Breath flowers
  • Floral Wire
  • Wire Cutter
  • Floral Tape

I bought all the supplies except the flowers from the Dollar Store.

Supplies needed for DIY Baby's Breath Flower Crown. Not only does it make for a great photo prop, it is also good for summer or garden parties or even as a return gift.

Steps for DIY Baby’s Breath Flower Crown

  1. Measure your head with the floral wire so that it fits like a crown. Leaving some extra space, cut the floral wire up to your head measurement. Now bend the two edges to create a hook like closure. Hook the two ends together and pinch each hook using a pliers so that the closure is secured.
  2. Break off/Cut the baby breath stems into small bunches. I just broke off the stem at the nearest branching point as shown below.

  4. Line a single bunch along with the wire and wrap it using the green floral tape. Continue this all around the front part of the circumference of the crown and then wrap the rest of the wire using the floral tape. Also depending on your preference you can tape together more bunches and increase/decrease the distance between each of the bunches.

I made 2 of these crowns in 15 minutes for our photo shoot, definitely worth the time and money!

Aren’t these adorable? Akira of course felt like a little princess in it, and did not want to take it off. Even I was roaming around in it for a while. 😀
